A single Canadian statutory holiday calendar is a myth. The federal government lists general holidays under the Canada Labour Code, but provinces control most workplaces. That means a celebrity birthday can be a holiday in one province and an ordinary workday in another. Tommy Chong was born in Edmonton on 24 May 1938. That date is Victoria Day in most provinces in 2027, but not in Quebec, where 24 May falls on the same Monday as National Patriots' Day. Solange Knowles was born on 24 June 1986, which is St. Jean Baptiste Day in Quebec only. Pamela Anderson was born on 1 July 1967 in Ladysmith, British Columbia. Canada Day on 1 July is statutory in all provinces and territories, so her birthday is a holiday everywhere.
In 2027, Family Day lands on 15 February in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. Victoria Day lands on 24 May 2027. St. Jean Baptiste Day lands on 24 June 2027.
Why a provincial calendar matters for birthday planners
If you maintain a celebrity birthday calendar for a workplace, school or family, using a single federal list will mislabel statutory holidays. For example, in Ontario, the August Civic Holiday is not a statutory holiday under the Employment Standards Act, but many printed calendars mark it. A fan of a celebrity born on that Monday may assume a paid day off when none exists. The Canada Labour Code does not cover most provincial employees, so provincial lists matter. General holidays under the Canada Labour Code apply only to federally regulated workplaces.

- Note provincial exceptions such as National Patriots' Day in Quebec and Louis Riel Day in Manitoba.
The same date can have two names. In Manitoba, the third Monday in February is Louis Riel Day. In Quebec, the late May holiday is National Patriots' Day. This naming difference alone catches many calendar makers.
Example: Ontario versus Quebec in June
In Ontario, 24 June is an ordinary business day. In Quebec, 24 June is St. Jean Baptiste Day, a statutory holiday. A Solange Knowles fan in Montreal gets a holiday birthday. A Solange Knowles fan in Toronto does not. The same date, the same celebrity, but two different provincial calendars. That split is the reason a single national celebrity birthday calendar fails. The same celebrity can be celebrated differently in two neighbouring provinces. A wall calendar that shows only one federal list cannot handle that.
If you also track American dates, a separate Celebrities born on July 4 list will conflict with Canada Day on 1 July. That list covers US Independence Day, which does not affect Canadian statutory holidays.
